Changing A Password

If you want to change the password of a user, then just go to the Users > Manage link, search for either that user (if you know her email id), or search for all users. See more about searching in another post.

Then click on the “Name” of the user, and you will go to the “Edit User” screen. There you can change the user’s password.

If you are the admin and looking to change your own password, then you can do the same as above (as the “admin” is also a user in the system, except with the user type “admin”).

Or you can go to “User Home” and click on “Edit Profile” and change your password there.

Now the “User Home” is the page that all your users would see when they are logged into your members-only area powered by DAP. So, we’ve basically provided you, the admin, a way to see what they see, when you visit the “User Home” page.

Hi there!

Can users change their own password from within their profile section?

Also, is their any possibility of users being able to choose their own password at signup?

I am developing a subscription and premium content based portal and am keen on any product that would allow for these possibilities. From studies it seems that clients make a point of returning to websites more often when they have a password that they themselves have chosen and, as such, don’t easily forget. This factor is obviously important for repeat sales and back-end business.

Well done with what looks like a fantastic looking product!

Alcino,

Thank you for your kind words.

>>Can users change their own password from within their profile section?<< Yes. >>is their any possibility of users being able to choose their own password at signup?<< Not at this time. But in a future version, we have plans of adding this feature. But since they can change their password already, then can always change it to one of their liking when they first log in to your membership site. - Ravi Jayagopal

That is great news! Thanks for the quick reply.

I’ll most probably be back soon then, when I’m ready to begin testing.

Until then I’ll definately be informing people here in Portugal of your site as it seems you really have an interesting and rock solid thing going on here.

If a customer loses thier password, is there a way they can retreive it without myself or my partner logging in to retreive it for them?

If you’re the admin, and want to see the “DAP default home page”, then go to http://yoursite.com/dap/ .

If you set the ‘Auto-sync-to-vb’ option in /dap/dap-config.php file to “N”, then dap wont auto-sync users to VB. The users will get sync’d ONLY when they pick a username in the dap profile.

Can users reset their password themselves yet? If so, how?

They can’t reset but they can click on the ‘forgot password’ link if they can’t remember their password. DAP will send them an email with their current password.

Thanks,
Veena
