Customizing User-facing CSS

Starting DAP v3.8, there is a file in the folder dap/inc/content/ called userfacing.css

Copy (not rename) it to a file called customuserfacing.css

Basically you are adding the word “custom” at the beginning of the file name.

Feel free to customize the CSS, and then upload it back to the same folder on your site.

This CSS file only impacts certain user-facing sections, like the User Links page, User Profile page and Affiliate Details section.

So every time we do a DAP upgrade we should ensure to take a back up of customuserfacing.css and re-upload it under the path you mentioned.

No, you do it only once.

DAP does not contain a file called customuserfacing.css. That’s exactly why we ask you to create the new file on your end, so that it is never over-written.

Ok great!

Trick lies in the fact that while upgrading, DAP folder is just ‘overwritten’ and not ‘replaced’

That is right. Since there is no file in dap called customuserfacing.css, your copy will never be overwritten.

I’ve been getting constant 404 errors from this css file before changing the name. Now that I have changed the name hopefully that will do the trick.

For some reason I am still getting the 404 error, and the page source is showing it loading from
wordpress/dap/inc/content/customuserfacing.css?ver=3.4.2

FTPing in I see there is no directory under wordpress for Dap, where could it be loading it from or referencing it incorrectly?

I have not yet tried to customize the user facing css but getting ready to do so.

For some reason, the font size within the “Title” field of the user profile form is very large and it moves the form off the main content section because it is so wide.

How do I get that font size in the Title field to go back to normal? I am 99.99% sure I did not change anything that would have caused this to happen.

I figured out the reason for the 48px size for the title field in the DAP Profile Page.

I guess it was inheriting the font size from my StudioPress theme in the styles.css file. Could we maybe change that style for your profile form to something that doesn’t interfere with the website styles css file? I don’t use the Title font anyway so I changed it to match the rest of the profile form.
