I'd like to use DAP for a subscription style continuity product that has 6 months of training/coaching followed by weekly coaching. Payment is made and one price for 6 months and then at a reduced price until canceled by member. Is there a way to do this in DAP for the membership portion? This is one product.

Yes, it's possible.

Hi Veena - I read your posts but they seem offer a solution to a different setup. I need 6 - 30 day periods at $297 each period, and then indefinite 30 day periods for $147 each period.
With DAP's system I can see getting 2 - 30 day $297 periods using the trials before the indefinite at $147.
What am I missing?
If I give them access to product B after product A will the charge amount change to product B? Will this be changed in Paypal?

Hi Joe,
This is what you had asked:
>>I'd like to use DAP for a subscription style continuity product that has 6 months of training/coaching followed by weekly coaching. Payment is made and one price for 6 months and then at a reduced price until canceled by member. <<
I thought you wanted to charge once for the 6 month training upfront and then charge the reduced price weekly. I didn't realize you wanted to first charge every 30 days for 6 months and then change it to every 7 days. That cant be done.
If you want to charge once upfront for 6 months, then your DAP product -> recurring setup will be:
Trial Amount = Whatever you want to charge for 6 months
Product Price = Reduced price that you want to charge weekly
Recurring Count = 9999
Payment/Trial option1 = 6 * 30 = 180 days
Payment/Trial option2 = 7 days
Recurring/Thereafter Settings = 7 days
Or instead of changing it to weekly after 6-30 day period, always keep the payment cycle as 30 days.
Then your setting will be:
Trial Amount = Whatever you want to charge initially
Product Price = Reduced price that you want to charge every month.. no 6 month limit
Recurring Count = 9999
Payment/Trial option1 = 30 days
Payment/Trial option2 = 30 days
Recurring/Thereafter Settings = 30 days

Hi Veena,
I'm not explaining it clearly
I want to charge $297 each month for 30 days of access for a period that will last 6 months
That is $297 x 6 months = $1192 to get 180 days of access
Then charge $147 each additional month for another 30 days access until subscriber cancels
The way I understand you're telling me to do it is to charge $1192 up front for 180 days of access and then changing to the lower monthly price. That's not how I need to do it.

Product Price = $297
Recurring Count = 6 (users will be charged a total of 6 times.. $297 each month)
Payment/Trial option1 = 30 days
Payment/Trial option2 = 30 days
Recurring/Thereafter Settings = 30 days
After they complete the 6 payments of $297 each and have access of 6 month content, what do you want to do?
Do you want them to have continued access to previously paid for content? Or do you want them to have access to all future content as well after 6 months of payment?
If you want them to have continued access to previously paid for content, then set DAP setup -> config -> advanced -> allows access to previously paid for content to Y.

After the first 6 months I want their subscription to change to a lower price $147 for an additional 30 days access. This $147 / 30 day access is a recurring subscription that only ends when they cancel. I would like to sell the 6 month monthly subscription and the follow on lower priced indefinite subscription as one product.
They will always have access to the material they have paid for (which I already know how to set up).

Cant change subscription to automatically change to lower price after a 30 day - 6 month period at a different price.
You will have to get them to buy a new product (with different recurring setting) to continue access at lower price - indefinite subscription.

Would it work by chaining two products? Would this work with say Paypal?

You will have to simplify the requirement for it to work.
Even if you chain, you cannot have 2 different recurring settings for the same product. I dont think you can do this even if you use paypal button.
You can have 1 trial price and 1 recurring price but the trial price cannot be applied for a period of 6 months before it switces to recurring price.
You have have 1 trial price that applies to say the first month.. and from there on charge them the same reduced / recurring price monthly.

Hey Joe,
I'm pretty sure DAP can handle this, but I'm not sure it can be done in as a single product because you want to change the price after 6 payments. Here is how I would set it up:
Product 1
Produce Price = $297
Recurring Count = 6
Trial 1 = 30 days
Trial 2 = 30 days
Thereafter = 30 days
Product 2
Product Price = $147
Recurring Count = 9999
Trial 1 = 30 days
Trial 2 = 30 days
Thereafter = 30 days
Now create two product chains, these assume that if they cancel out of product 2, product 1 is also cancelled:
When user is added to [product 1] then add to [product 2] as [paid] at a future date of [180 days].
When user is removed from [product 2] then remove from [product 1] at [current date]
If you want your customers to still have access to the information they paid for even after they cancel either within the first six months or after, simply set that up in Setup >> Config > Adv (it's about the 5th option from the top)
Now you can create your content responders for product 1 as you normally would starting from day 1 and you can create your content responders for product 2 as you normally would from day 180 and it'll drip seamlessly as the customer transitions over from 1 to 2.
I hope that helps.

Won't work.
Problem is not with product 1 access. Problem is how do you automatically charge users $147 every 30 days after 6 months of charging them $297 per month.
With this setup, paypal will stop charging users after 6 times of charging $297 / month. There's no way to make Paypal continue to charge users $147 forever until cancellation after charging $297 for first 6 months.
Product chaining does not set up recurring profile in Paypal. It only grants user access to one payment period when payment notification is received for the parent product.

Hi Veena,
I can do this with "BluePay" (you spoke with Jason there about a week ago). They can structure the two-tiered product pricing like we need.
Will this be a problem with DAP if after 6-months the payment amount being reported by Bluepay is lower than the product price?
