How in the world do you get Gmail SMTP to work. I tried editing the class.phpmailer.php file as in the documentation, but had no luck.

I just want to use it to send out the user/pass email as my domain emails are going to junk folder

I'm not sure about GMAIL smtp but I had the same issue with my domain and wordpress/dap sending out via normal php mail and local host. I solved mine with a free plugin from the wordpress site called WP-Mail-SMTP
You basically just put in your smtp server details and it forces all wordpress email requests through SMTP - no script editing needed. Has been working fine for me for a couple of weeks with no issues with DAP.
