Can we disable vbulletin registrations EXCEPT through DAP

    Hi All

I still get a lot of spam signups to my vbulletin forum just by accessing /register.php -- i think it's software that creates the signups.

Since we have DAP, is it possible to have it setup so that only people who sign up through DAP are able to create accounts on the forum?

We have the content protected so that the 'free' people can't see it, but i am thinking about putting in a chat system as well as some other stuff and would like for it to be impossible for free/fake users to sign up at all. Thanks

Re: Can we disable vbulletin registrations EXCEPT through DAP

Thanks Veenah - I did this, it looks like it does block register thanks

a related but i guess slightly different issue

If they actually click 'login' at the upper right, it takes them back to DAP-

but if they just type in the url http://www.mysite/forum, they still get the regular vbulletin login page, and can totally login and bypass the whole DAP aspect.

This means that users who do not pay in DAP and expire can still get into the forum -- Dap does not automatically remove them from the usergroup / forum permissions (mine doesn't - is it supposed to)? , so they can still just go to mysite.com/forum and login, bypassing dap, even if they have not paid, cancelled their subscription etc.

Or am I missing something? it appears to still work this way after following the steps. Thanks.

To test this, pls log out of dap first (http://YOURSITE.com/dap/logout.php)
Then go to the forum page ( http://www.mysite/forum )
Now if you click on login at the top, you should get redirected to dap login
If you login to dap, dap will also auto-login to VB
Now access http://www.mysite/forum, the user will be in logged-in state in VB

Currently when a subscription is cancelled, nothing really happens in dap. DAP employs a pay-as-you-go model.
User automatically loses access to product at the 'end of current recurring cycle' as no new payments come in.
The access to VB forum/permission does not get removed at the end of recurring cycle for expired users but we plan on updating this flow in the upcoming release of dap (dap 4.4.).

In dap 4.4, we will update the dap hourly cron to pick up list of all expired users, and automatically disable access in VB (based on VB forum mapping rule set by the admin).

Re: Can we disable vbulletin registrations EXCEPT through DAP

Thanks - this does behave as you describe

however, there is still, right on the page when one goes to http://mysite.com/forum, a login form ON that page where the user can enter their vbulletin username and password. - thus anyone can instantly bypass DAP, and in fact the eye is much more likely to just see the 'username / password' right there than to bother clicking on the upper right. Is it clear what I mean?

Basically i am looking to make it impossible to login to vbulletin EXCEPT through dap which would inherently remove all issues.. but right now they can still enter their login info directly via VB just by going to that url mysite.com/forum, or mysite.com/forum/login.php (if they are knowledgable)

So perhaps this is more appropriate to be asking the Vbulletin people but maybe you know. Thanks

    That sounds awesome for 4.4!!

    Thanks.
