Product Chaining - chaining a subscription product to one-time product

    Two products:
    - Product A: Say one-time price of $40, lifetime access to content
    - Product B: Say $10/mo, with free 7-day trial

You want the buyers of product A to be automatically added to Product B.

Set up product B as a chained product of A in the product chaining page (under dap products/levels menu). So when a user is added to A, they get access to B automatically via chaining.

Use this setting for product A and B (B is the chained product) :

Product A: (set up as Recurring even though its a one-time product)

Trial : Cost of Prod A = $40 (So for the first month, Prod B's cost not included)
Product price = $10 (cost of product B, it's the recurring price)

    recurring count = 9999
rec period 1 = 7 days (user will be charged $10 at the end of 7 days)
    rec period 2 = 30 days
    rec period 3 = 30 days

Use a subscription button to sell product A.

Product B: (chained to product A)

    Trial price : $0
    Product Price : $0

    rec period 1 = 7 days
    rec period 2 = 30 days
    rec period 3 = 30 days

    recurring count = 9999

Product B is chained to Product A and marked as PAID.

Test it and see if it works.

Re: Product Chaining - chaining a subscription product to one-time product

    Hi Veena,

Thanks for the description above it was very useful for setting up my product chaining. I would like to check one thing with you though.

I have a main subscription and then set up a number of tutorial courses as part of a chaining rule. They are all given paid access to each tutorial course (product) on the day the member signs up but the chained products are drip fed on specific days.

I am presuming that the main subscription product would be set up as per Product A above (with trial and recurring costs against it) and then every other product in the chain would be set up as per product B above (no trial or recurring price).

Also, if I did have a recurring price on product B would the member be charged twice?

    Many thanks

    David

No. Chaining will not trigger a charge.
