Mobile Responsive DAP Shopping Cart v2.0

March 5, 2015 by Veena Prashanth 28 Comments

Hey Dappers!

In our efforts to continue to provide you with the best tools to sell your products, we are super excited to announce the release of a much improved mobile-responsive checkout page template for the DAP Shopping Cart plugin!

We have also addressed the performance issues (slow load) with the shopping cart plugin.

And now you can also configure the checkout page to display a ‘product image’ instead of just the product name.

Please NOTE: The new DAP Shopping Cart is FREE with your DAP License purchase.

It’s our small way of saying “Thank You!” for the faith and trust you have placed, and continue to place, in DAP.

Please watch this short video (~8 mins) below. You will see our awesome, new, mobile responsive template and also see how you can be live with the new cart in just a few easy steps).

(Watch video full-screen & in HD)

We would love for you to get started with the new DAP Shopping Cart. And we look forward to your comments and feedback further below.

1) When can I download the new DAP Shopping Cart (BETA)?

We are releasing the BETA version today.

You can download it right now from the members area on WickedCoolPlugins.com.

2) What are the requirements for the new DAP Shopping Cart?

  • You need at least one of the following:

a) a Paypal Standard Account, or
b) an Authorize.net merchant account or
c) a Stripe.com account or
d) a Paypal Payments Pro account

  • If you are using Authorize.net and wish to sell subscription-based products, then you also need Automated Recurring Billing (ARB) enabled in your Authorize.net account.
  • If you’re using Authorize.net or Paypal Website Payments Pro or Stripe.com, then you need to have SSL (secure server) enabled on your web site. Please ask your web host to enable SSL/HTTPs for your site. SSL is NOT needed if you allow users to ONLY ‘Checkout with Paypal Standard’ option. It’s ONLY needed if you wish to allow users to enter CC info on the checkout page right on your site.

IMPORTANT: You need to be on the latest DAP 4.7.2 & LiveLinks 1.11.2.

You can use our easy installer plugin to install or upgrade DAP on your site.

3. What happens to my existing DAP Shopping Cart?

Please see this document for details on how to upgrade to the new cart.

4. Can I customize the colors/font etc?

Yes, you can update the CSS for that. See this document for details.

5. Can I upgrade my LIVE site?

We recommend that you use the BETA version only on a test site or a new site that’s not live yet. If it’s a live site and you are receiving a lot of traffic, but want to upgrade, make sure to backup the current version the dapshoppingcart plugin (just the folder and files inside), and then create a new checkout page in WordPress (watch the video above to find out how)  instead of updating the existing one. Generate a new button that points to this new checkout page, test and if all looks good, you can make this your primary checkout page.

Make sure to read these instructions.

5. What are the other things in the pipeline for DAP Shopping Cart?

The next upgrade of the DAP Cart will include full-fledged Analytics & Reporting (conversion stats) feature! We don’t have a release date for this yet but it’s on the top of our to-do list for DAP!

We recommend using this new version of DAP Shopping Cart only on sites that are NOT live yet, or on test sites. If you want to use it on a live site, make sure to read these instructions.

We have many more really awesome stuff lined up for release in the coming weeks. The new releases will feature major usability and look&feel enhancements. It will include responsive user-facing pages (member login, member profile, member links etc.) and a completely new admin UI (admin reporting, search feature etc) that will surely make you even more impressed and happy with DAP!

You can use our free Easy Installer Plugin and install or upgrade DAP on your site by yourself. Or if you want us to upgrade your DAP installation for you, then you may purchase our upgrade service at DigitalAccessPass.com/pricing/#other (click on “Installations”).

I like the new options! When do you expect this to be out of beta and ready for regular use by current DAP users? I am currently on Shopping Cart 1.4. Will my current shopping cart products and settings automatically be brought over into 2.0?

Awesome! I had just been thinking I needed to get one designed.

I didn’t see in the video how to set the country to a default different from the US – and is this feature available per checkout page or is it a global setting?

    Thank you!!

I am so looking forward to the shopping cart plugin. Currently any of the above payment options are not supported in my country, let’s hope for the best in the next updates.

    Hi Tamal,

    >>I am so looking forward to the shopping cart plugin. Currently any of the above payment options are not supported in my country, let’s hope for the best in the next updates.< < You can use the DAP Shopping Cart even if you have a regular Paypal Standard Account. See - http://www.digitalaccesspass.com/doc/checkout-with-paypalstandard/

    Thanks,
    Veena

    Hi Jared,

    >>I didn’t see in the video how to set the country to a default different from the US – and is this feature available per checkout page or is it a global setting?<< Right now, you will have to look for "USA" in buynow.php and update it to the country of your choice. We will make it a checkout page level option in the next couple of days. And when we do that, you will be able to configure any country of your choice as the default (using the SC Editor). Thanks, Veena

Shopping cart looks nice. Is the code for the cart summary the same?

    Thanks.

    Hi Mike,

We don’t have a new responsive template for cart summary yet. Most users use the buy now template so we wanted to release that first. Please continue to use the same code for cart summary.

    Thanks,
    Veena

    Love the new upgrade!

Just a heads up, the new template isn’t showing up inside themes with page builder templates (example: Divi by Elegant Themes).

It works fine when I use it outside of the page builder (although I can’t center it). For me to create the sidebar, it would have to be inside the page builder. Maybe it’s the extra tags that page builder’s use?

Looking forward to getting this up and running!

    Hi Dennis,

    >>Just a heads up, the new template isn’t showing up inside themes with page builder templates (example: Divi by Elegant Themes). < < If you are using OptimizePress or Divi theme, you can generate the shortcode in regular WP visual editor mode, copy the shortcode and paste it inside the page builder. If it is not showing up or pushing the menu down, add a new attribute called oplive="Y" to the shortcode (for e.g. - [DAPShoppingCart oplive="Y" ...] ) and that should fix it. We will update the editor in the next release so you will not have to do this manually. >>It works fine when I use it outside of the page builder (although I can’t center it). << Look for this in buynow.css (under /dapshoppingcart/includes/templates/dapcart/template2/css) : #checkoutWrapper{ line-height: normal; float:left; ... And replace float:left; with float:none !important; See if it helps. If it does, copy buynow.css to custombuynow.css and upload back to the /dapshoppingcart/includes/templates/dapcart/template2/css folder. This way your updates will not get overwritten when you upgrade the dap cart plugin in future. Thanks, Veena

    Love the new checkout form!

I’m having an issue with the credit card images displaying on top of each other instead of side-by-side.

Is there a setting I can change to get the images to display correctly?

  23. Veena Prashanth says

    March 22, 2015 at 1:22 pm

    Hi Jeff,

Your theme css is likely overriding the DAP Shopping Cart css.

You might have to update this setting in the css file and see if it helps:

    #payWithCC .ccImages {margin:3px 10px -3px 0px; min-width:168px;}

You will find the css file (buynow.css) under the /wp-content/plugins/dapshoppingcart/includes/templates/dapcart/template2/css folder.

If it does not help, please open a support ticket and we will take a look.

    Thanks,
    Veena

I am using PayPal along with the DAP shopping cart, and have the Add To Cart button set to ‘Allow Checkout With Paypal Only’. All I want on the checkout page is for the customer to fill in his first name, last name, and email. I do not need any of their billing address. How do I get rid of the lower part of the form which requires them to fill in all this information? The less they they have to fill in, the more apt they are not to abandon the order.

    Thanks.

    Hi Mike,

    >> All I want on the checkout page is for the customer to fill in his first name, last name, and email. I do not need any of their billing address. < < 1) In DAP admin => payments => cart options page, you can turn off ‘require billing for paypal’.

    2) Now you can customize the checkout template.

Copy the contents of checkout.html to customcheckout.html.
You will find the checkout.html in /wp-content/plugins/dapshoppingcart/includes/templates/dapcart/template2 folder.

Now remove both the billing and shipping divs from customcheckout.html.
If you don’t know how, please open a support ticket and we will help with that.

You will end up with a checkout page that looks something like this :
    http://screencast.com/t/f6Y7iMigRc

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

How would you insert a “step” or checkbox in the shopping cart to put in a Terms/Conditions area?

    Something to the effect of:

[ ] I have read and understand the Return Policy(linked)
    [ ] I have read and understand the Guarantee(linked)
    [ ] I understand that…..

And they must check for order to proceed?

    Thanks

    Hi Glenn,

You can enable T&C in DAP Admin => Payments => Cart Options page. It will show up on the checkout page.

    Thanks,
    Veena
